How can I change a content item to a private, published, or public draft state?

If you need to review just what publishing states are, read this page.

When you are simply viewing a piece of content (a page, news item, etc) look in the upper-right corner of the toolbar. You should see something like:

From here you can select the publishing state that you want. This may look different if you aren't starting from the Public Draft state.

If your content is Private already, you must select Make Visible to put it in Public Draft.state-private

If your content is Published already, you can Retract it, to change it to Public Draft.

If you need to change several items at once, go to the Contents tab of a particular folder. From there you can select as many items as you need using the checkboxes. When you are ready, click the Change State button at the bottom of the screen.
